For City of Pasadena in partnership with HGAC (Houston Galveston Area Council)
Healthy Pasadena
A Livable Centers Study
Healthy Pasadena is an opportunity to build on the recent planning efforts of the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation by creating an area plan which focuses developing a healthy and sustainable community with recommendations for catalyst projects. Centered around a medical center, the study area is composed of a diverse set of land uses, a mixture of housing products, and a community with the largest concentration of senior population in the City. The study area suffers from lack of public transportation that is coupled with aging infrastructure, all of which weaken aging-in place strategies.
Through on the ground analysis and public engagement, UltraBarrio dove deep into the existing conditions of connectivity, urban heat island, lighting, tree canopy, biodiversity, land use distribution, and spatial and social dynamics. In collaboration with Dallas AECOM, UltraBarrio is working to creatively connect these topics as scenarios for the public to provide further input.
